Project Tanzania
Deployment: June, 2016 - present
We employ currently 5 seismic stations in the Olduvai Gorge region. Olduvai George
is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world; it has proven invaluable in furthering understanding of early human evolution.
It is located in north Tanzania, about 6 hours’ drive distance from Arusha and 2 hours from Karato.
We map the subsurface to better understand the structural geology of this site. This gives us more insights on the early environment and living conditions of where the earliest humans developed and transitioned into the Homo habilis, probably the first early human species approximately 1.9 million years ago.
