The Seismic Modeling and Inversion (SMI) research group is part of the Physical Science and Engineering Division within the Earth Science and Engineering Program at KAUST. The group is also affiliated with the Extreme Computing Research Center. It was active since 2015 and will shut down its research activities by mid-2023.

We focussed on developing and advancing algorithms related to seismic wave propagation and tomography. The range of applications covers multiple scales, from local-scale exploration to regional- and global-scale seismic inversions.
